Remote Area First Aid

This course is designed for bushwalkers, wilderness guides, and those living or working in remote locations, where access to help may be delayed. It provides comprehensive training in first aid treatment, extended and self-care, contingency planning, and aeromedical evacuation, with a strong focus on first aider safety and managing casualties over prolonged periods.

Delivery Mode & Duration

  • This is a 3 day face-to-face course.
  • Participants who have completed HLTAID011 Provide First Aid in last 12 months may be entitled to an exemption from the first day.

Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

  • Must be able to perform CPR on a manikin on the floor for 2 minutes.

What certification do you get?

This is an accredited course. On successful completion of this course, you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in remote or isolated sites

St John Ambulance advises, in accordance with The Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council, first aid skills are renewed every 3 years and resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months.
