About St John

Saving lives for 140 years

St John Queensland is a self-funding charitable organisation dedicated to helping people in sickness, distress, suffering, or danger. We have been saving lives for 140 years and internationally are part of a wider organisation with a long and honourable history.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be the charity of choice, dedicated to the service of humanity, enhancing the lives of Queenslanders, and a trusted partner in times of need, a leader in the field of our humanitarian community, health, and First Aid resilience.

Our Mission

With you in times of need, we sustainably serve our community by building capacity, resilience, and wellbeing.

Our Purpose

In Faith and for Humanity, St John Ambulance Australia’s objective, whether acting alone or in partnership with others, is the provision of charitable, humanitarian and community services to individuals, groups and organisations.

Our humanitarian enterprise works to support all people in sickness, distress, suffering or danger and recognises no barrier of race, colour, or creed.

Funds raised for the services St John Queensland provides, help to achieve our overall humanitarian and community objectives. Fundraising is not, nor will ever be allowed to become, an end in itself.

St John Queensland takes pride in its commitment to providing lifesaving and lifechanging training, community and humanitarian services, its volunteer ethos, ethical standards, and its independence.

Our Values

Humanity

The generous quality of human nature. Being humane and kind, compassionate and sympathetic, respecting all people.

Excellence

The quality of being outstanding. Excellence means greatness – the very best.

Respect and Integrity

Having due regard for the feelings, wishes, or rights of others. Being honest, transparent, and having strong moral principles.

Diversity

The practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations.

Collaboration and Innovation

Collaboration in the workplace is about people working together. And through cooperation, explore something new; a new idea, approach, method, or device that will achieve the team’s goals.

How you can support our mission

At St John Queensland, we are passionate about saving lives through First Aid, but we need your help to expand and support the growing demand for our services. By either volunteering or donating, you are actively taking a part in enhancing the lives of Queenslanders, their families and the community through the delivery of innovative training, First Aid and community social support services.

A rewarding way to meet new people, help the community, and learn a new skill (or two).
