Ways to volunteer
St John Ambulance Qld is proud to have an active team of volunteers supporting us to provide vital services to people in the community. We have a diverse range of volunteering opportunities suitable for all skill levels and time constraints.
Our Health and Medical Services (HMS) team attend events all across the state, providing support and first aid services to our local and regional communities.
Our team of compassionate volunteers provide connection and friendship by visiting people in our older community either in their own home or in an Aged Care Facility on a regular basis.
Commitment required: 1 hour weekly or fortnightly
Location: Queensland wide
Committed volunteers provide regular phone calls to older people in our community. These calls provide positive and uplifting conversation and provide much needed friendship.
Commitment required: 30/40 minutes weekly or fortnightly
Location: Queensland wide
Volunteers across the state provide a daily check-in phone call at the same time daily. For any unanswered calls, St John Qld will initiate action to ensure the person is safe.
Commitment required: 10 mins Mon-Fri
Location: Queensland wide
Working as a larger team, volunteers provide door-to-door transport in a St John vehicle. This is a safe and affordable option for essential travel to appointments and other vital services.
Commitment required: variable from 1 – 2 shifts per week
Location: Brisbane, Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Maryborough, Hervey Bay and Townsville
Our team of volunteer educators teach primary school students about the importance of First Aid and what to do in the event of an emergency.
Commitment required: variable from 1 – 2 shifts per month
Location: Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Toowoomba
Working alongside office staff, volunteers can support in many ways by providing administrative support. Roles and hours are flexible.
Commitment required: variable from 1 – 2 shifts per week
Location: Brisbane
St John Ambulance Queensland shops need reliable volunteers with an interest in selling first aid, mobility & incontinence products. We require volunteers who can do at least one shift per week between the hours of 9.00am to 3.00pm.
By joining the team, you will get the opportunity to:
- Provide customer service and process sales
- Help create window and visual merchandising displays
- Upsell customers to use other St John services including but not limited to training, community transport/services
- Contribute your skills and help us raise valuable funds for St John
Commitment required: 1 shift per week
Days: Monday – Friday
Hours: various hours between 9:00AM – 3:00PM
Location: Morningside, Bundaberg and Townsville
