St John Ambulance QLD is a self-funding charitable organisation dedicated to helping people in sickness, distress, suffering, or danger. We have been active for more than 130 years and internationally are part of a wider organisation with a long and honourable history.

For over 130 years, the nature of how we support individuals, employers, associations and the broader Queensland community continues to grow and evolve. However, our mission has always stayed the same. We are dedicated to enhancing the lives of Queenslanders, their families, and the community through the delivery of innovative training, first aid, and community social support services.

Our legacy
St John Ambulance originated from The Order of St John, which was established in the in the Middle Ages with a code of conduct focused on virtues of courage and honour, and pledging to care for the sick and poor. Nowadays, St John Ambulance is an international humanitarian charity, providing first aid, health care and support services in over 40 countries around the world.

The Order around the world
Although The Order was founded on Christian principles, membership is not exclusively Christian, and members come from all faiths or none. Notable members include Nelson Mandela, Queen Noor of Jordan, Desmond Tutu, and Margaret Thatcher.
