St John Queensland is hitting the road on an exciting new initiative that’s about to make life tastier, easier, and way more connected across Brisbane and Wide Bay!

Starting in May 2026, St John’s popular Community Connections Transport (CCT) will be people straight to selected Meals on Wheels locations, giving everyone easier access to delicious, nutritious meals at affordable prices.

It’s the perfect collaboration! St John Queensland has been a trusted community hero for over 140 years, and for more than 20 years in Brisbane, they’ve been helping locals get out, stay connected, and live life on their terms. Now they’re taking that same caring spirit onto the road in a whole new way.

Meals on Wheels Queensland is already a legend in the community, dishing up a whopping 2.9 million meals every year to more than 23,000 people. We’re talking proper home-style classics, hearty soups, fresh breakfasts, and those cheeky desserts that make you smile. All cooked fresh in accredited kitchens with quality ingredients.

Thanks to this new collaboration, anyone can now jump on St John transport, visiting a participating Meals on Wheels spot, browse the mouth-watering menu, and grab a meal for around just $10. No fuss, no stress — just good food made easy.

It’s all about choice and independence. Pick what you fancy, pay on the spot, and enjoy knowing your ride there and back is sorted safely by St John.

A timely helping hand

With the cost of living still biting, this initiative is great news. It’s practical support that saves you time, money, and hassle while keeping you well-fed and connected.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to launch this,” said Opal Halliday, General Manager of Community Services at St John Queensland.

“This is about making a real difference — helping people enjoy affordable, nourishing meals while staying part of their community. Partnering with Meals on Wheels lets us reach more people in a way that’s both super practical and genuinely empowering.”

And there’s even more support available! Just chat with the friendly Meals on Wheels team about whether you might qualify for subsidised meals through programs like CHSP, Support at Home, or the NDIS.

What’s next?

This is just the start. St John Queensland will be keeping a close eye on how the community responds, with big plans to grow and expand the service if it goes as well as everyone hopes.

So get ready — great food, friendly faces, and reliable wheels are rolling your way!
