Media Release: Community Centre Partnership Delivers Life-Saving Training.

News from St John - 16 Apr 2025

St John Ambulance Queensland (SJAQ) is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with the Y Springfield Central Community Centre, bringing vital first aid training to the heart of the Springfield community.

Starting this month, residents will have access to nationally recognised, high-quality training courses delivered weekly.

Available courses include:

  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • Caring for Children
  • First Aid for Seniors
  • Mental Health First Aid

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to building a safer, more resilient community,” said Kahla McKinless, Group Commercial Manager at St John Ambulance Queensland. “Together, we’re making essential skills more accessible for individuals and families—right where they live, work, and play.”

Sally Gray, Administration Officer at The Y Queensland, added: “We’re excited to offer our community a convenient way to gain life-saving skills. Whether you’re a parent, carer, educator, or senior, there’s a course designed to meet your needs.”

The initiative aims to empower everyday Queenslanders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to respond in times of illness, accidents, or emergencies.

Every time you choose St John for first aid training, products, or services, you’re helping to give back. “For every $1 spent with St John QLD, more than $3 in value is reinvested into our community,” said Ms McKinless.

Members of the public are encouraged to check the course calendar and book their spot at the Y Springfield Central Community Centre.

St John Ambulance Queensland delivers nationally recognised training and assessment on behalf of St John Ambulance Australia (RTO 88041).
