Finalists named for 2025 Queensland Volunteering Awards

St John Ambulance Queensland volunteers have been announced as finalists in the prestigious 2025 Queensland Volunteering Awards, recognising their extraordinary dedication to serving communities across the state.

This statewide honour highlights the invaluable contributions these individuals have made through their tireless service, leadership, and commitment to safety and health within their local communities.

St John Ambulance Queensland CEO, Peter Warrener, praised the volunteers, stating:
“Each year, our volunteers touch the lives of thousands of Queenslanders, whether by providing first aid at local events, mentoring the next generation, or supporting community health. These volunteers represent the best of our organisation, and we are proud to see their contributions recognised at this level.”

About the Finalists:

Noel Sherrington has served St John for more than 40 years, dedicating over 17,500 hours in various leadership roles, including his current position as State Training Lead. His deep operational knowledge, commitment to volunteer development, and strategic leadership have made him a cornerstone of the organisation.

Jamie Mann-Farrar has contributed over a decade of service to St John across multiple states. As Director of Nursing at a private hospital and an academically published professional, Jamie brings clinical expertise and compassionate leadership to Event Health Services. His strategic input has strengthened the organisation’s service delivery and left a lasting impact on community care.

Thomas Suggett has shown exceptional leadership in revitalising the St John Youth Program in Queensland. In 2023, he stepped into the role of Youth Program Implementation Lead, driving the program’s rebirth and creating pathways for youth to develop confidence, skills, and a passion for volunteering.

Quinn Monaghan, a recent paramedic graduate, has logged over 370 volunteer hours since joining in May 2023. As the Event Health Services Student HCP Representative, Quinn has demonstrated remarkable professionalism, including during a critical incident where he helped save a mountain biker’s life after a severe fall.

The 2025 Queensland Volunteering Awards ceremony will take place on Friday, 16 May, where winners will be announced across multiple categories.
