The Board of St John Ambulance Australia Queensland Limited (St John Ambulance Qld) is calling for expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to apply for the volunteer role as a committee member of the Queensland Board’s Medical Governance Committee.
Appointment Term: An initial period of Three (3) years, which may be renewed for further terms.
St John Ambulance Qld are seeking suitably qualified individuals that have the following skill sets and experience (as outlined below):
- Australian registered medical practitioners experienced within the discipline of prehospital care (no less than three (3) positions). Preference is for registered medical practitioners who are listed on the Specialist Register of the Medical Board of Australia and with fellowship of one of the following colleges:
- Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, Royal Australian College of Surgeons, Royal Australian College of Physicians, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.
- Australian registered medical practitioners with Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (at least one position).
- Australian registered paramedic (at least one position).
- Australian registered nurse (at least one position).
- Australian registered pharmacist (at least one position).
- Other health care provider, health academic, or community representative (at least one position).
The Medical Governance is responsible to the Queensland Board and as such have authority and responsibilities, as detailed below:
The Medical Governance Committee formally meets bimonthly and at other ad hoc times as the need arises. Medical Governance Committee members are expected to dedicate significant time to their role, and responsibilities as a member of the Medical Governance Committee. There is a requirement for committee members to undertake out of committee work and respond in a timely manner to the business of the Medical Governance Committee.
There is a requirement for all registered health care professionals appointed to the Medical Governance Committee to be credentialled by St John Ambulance Qld with an individual Scope of Practice.
Applicants are required to exhibit a capacity to deliver effective written and oral communications.
