First Aid in Education and Care with Asthma and Anaphylaxis
This course is specifically designed to meet the needs of educators and support staff working within an
education and care setting, who are required to respond to a first aid emergency including asthmatic
and anaphylactic emergencies. This course is a nationally recognised unit that describes the skills and
knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children, and adults. It covers child specific first aid in many high-risk areas such as anaphylaxis and asthma, as well as common injuries and resuscitation.
This course has been approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority and
also satisfies all requirements for first aid, anaphylaxis management, and emergency asthma training
under the Education and Care Service National Law and the Education and Care Services National
This course also includes 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the
Workplace and 22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis which provides knowledge,
and skills to recognise and manage asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies including the use of the
asthma inhaler and the adrenaline auto-injector
This is an accredited course. On successful completion of this course, you will be issued a statement of attainment in:
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the workplace

This course involves an online eLearning module prior to attending the face-to-face workshops for practice and assessment. Includes the separate Asthma and Anaphylaxis VIC competencies.
Participants will be required to undertake an online e-learning module prior to attending the face-to-face workshops for practice and assessment.
Assessment Only (8 Hours)
This is a full face-to-face course and participants are required to attend the full workshop. This course is for those who are confident in their skills and only want to complete the assessment.
