We understand that connection, social interaction and friendship are essential for wellbeing.
Our Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is delivered Queensland-wide, improving social connections for those who may feel lonely, isolated, or would just like a chat or visit during the week.
You can also request a volunteer visitor from a particular age group or with particular interests. You may even wish to be matched with someone that has very different interests and life experiences. Talk to us directly about your situation for the best assessment.
The CVS Is a free service for those receiving a Government funded Home Care Package or living in a subsidised aged care home.
CVS recipients must be aged over 65 (over 50 if Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) and live in government-funded residential aged care or in receipt of a home care package.
The CVS is not available to recipients of Commonwealth Home Support Programme services.
CVS is supportive of Aged Care Quality Standards 1. Consumer dignity and choice, and 4. Services and supports for daily living. You can read more about the Standards here.
Health professionals, service providers, residential aged care facility staff, family, friends or the service recipient themselves can refer to the St John CVS by calling 1300 785 646.
Staying connected during COVID-19.
Social isolation was an issue before COVID-19, but the physical and mental health impacts have received a lot of exposure recently. We want the community to know that there is help available. Nobody should feel alone.
You can rely on St John Ambulance Qld to provide the same high quality experience you’ve come to expect from such a trusted name.
