St John Ambulance Australia is a self-funding, charitable organisation active in all states and territories, dedicated to helping people in sickness, distress, suffering or danger.
The organisation operates as a federated body, with each state and territory operating as an independent company with the purpose of developing and delivering community services to sustain individuals in need and build community resilience. St John seeks partnerships with others to form local community services that strengthen individual and community ability to respond to, withstand, and recover from adverse situations.
St John operates on a commercial business model to grow revenue which, in turn, builds capacity to grow local community services. St John holds a Registered Training Organisation approval.
