About the Role

  • As St John QLD prepares to grow their mental health and wellbeing training portfolio, the Training Department is seeking expressions of interest from those who wish to help St John Qld deliver Mental Health and Wellbeing courses.
  • This role will be on an ‘as required’ basis which will suit an existing trainer or other staff member or volunteer seeking to diversify their duties or an external candidate with the requisite attributes. For existing staff, the arrangements to be released from your normal duties will be negotiated with your current manager.
  • You will facilitate a suite of mental health courses that may include Mental Health First Aid, First Aid for the Mind, Mental Health Awareness and other short courses.
  • Upskilling and accreditation to deliver courses will be provided through St John Qld to enable the appointee to fulfil the required duties of the role.
  • Training will be held predominantly at St John Qld training venues and at times on site in corporate workplaces across Queensland.
  • As our customers are located across Queensland, some travel may be required periodically depending on your geographical location.

About You

  • You can be a current full-time, part-time or casual employee, a volunteer or an external candidate who has been referred to this advertisement.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental illness in Australia is essential.
  • Experience in the mental health sector, either professionally or as a volunteer etc is essential.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills, and a non-judgemental attitude to those who may be suffering from a mental health problem.
  • Possess current knowledge, skills and experience in vocational education and training.
  • Be able to demonstrate a willingness to engage in continued professional development in the mental health space and in vocational education and training.
  • Hold a current TAE40116 or 40110 with TAELLN401A or TAELLN411, and TAEASS502A, TAEASS502B or TAEASS502.
  • While qualifications within the mental health space are not essential, existing qualifications, or evidence of working towards a qualification in the mental health sector would be well regarded.
