St John Ambulance Australia is a charitable organisation dedicated to helping people in sickness, distress, suffering or danger. In Queensland, we have been active for more than 129 years, but internationally we are part of an organisation with a long and honourable history.
We provide:
- Industry leading first aid training
- A range of quality first aid kits and products for home and industry;
- First Aid Services at public events and in times of disaster;
- Community Services volunteers who support the vulnerable within our community in need of friendship, compassionate care or help; and
- Support to those suffering from eye disease through Australian and international ophthalmic programs.

Each year, St John Ambulance (Qld)
- Delivers 60,000 first aid certificates, making us Queensland's largest first aid training provider.
- Provides more than 212,300 hours of voluntary first aid and community services.
- Treats 7,500 casualties at public events across the State.
- Provides assistance to emergency services and the community in times of disaster, such as floods and cyclones.
Our dedicated volunteers include:
- More than 1,000 first aid volunteers who provide about 150,000 hours of their time each year in the provision of first aid at public events such as sporting matches, concerts and community fairs.
- About 300 Cadets (11-18 years) and Juniors (8-10 years) in its youth development program.
- 600 non-uniformed Community Services volunteers providing friendship, reassurance, hospital support and transport services to those in need.
