Team Leader - Bundaberg and various locations

 St John Ambulance (Qld) is currently seeking an energetic, full-time Team Leader to join its busy team based in Bundaberg.

This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of St John Community Services in the Wide Bay area.

 This dynamic and challenging position provides a leadership role to the St John / HACC funded Transport Access Projects, Silver Cord Service and the Health Care Volunteer Project.

 The Transport Access Project (TAP) and Silver Cord Service is funded by Home and Community Care (HACC) to create new choices and opportunities for people who are socially isolated, living in circumstances that may result in early admission to aged care.

Key Duties:

  • To assist the State Manager Transport and Regional Coordinator in the medium level decision making for the day-to-day operations of the Community Services programs.
  • Supervising team members, volunteers and clients to maximise efficiency of resources, staff and volunteers.
  • Engage in identification and analysis of service development to meet the ongoing needs of community groups, service providers and the HACC target population who may be socially isolated or otherwise disadvantaged.
  • Provide the daily supervision and training of office staff and volunteers in your sphere of influence and work in cooperation with other team leaders as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the recruitment of volunteers.
  • Actively encourage the development of cooperative links between councils, government departments, community and private sectors.
  • Ongoing management and development of the database to store project research, client data and manage data input.
  • Respond to enquiries and provide information, referral and / or advocacy.
  • Operational management of any vehicles and / or project resources.
  • Assist the State Manager and Regional Coordinator to implement new, or seek to improve existing, services and infrastructure.

Key Competencies:

  • Demonstrated team and office management including: team leading and supervision of staff; clerical skills; administrative procedures and office systems requiring a high degree of judgement, initiative and confidentiality.
  • Ability to give direction, provide support and maintain good relationships with staff, clients, volunteers and other external/internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated high level written skills including ability to research, analyse and report data, and from this develop project funding applications.
  • Demonstrated high level of computer knowledge including MS Office (in particular Excel) and database entry / manipulation.
  • Understanding of, or an ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, community-based projects and working with the various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with sensitivity, diplomacy and patience.

This position carries an initial six (6) month probationary period.

Conditions of employment are issued separately.

This position is reliant on recurrent funding from HACC and will be reviewed if the St John HACC funding is reviewed.

This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of St John Community Services in the Brisbane area.

 Key Competencies:

  •  A Demonstrated ability to communicate with sensitivity, diplomacy, patience and the ability to maintain good relationships with other staff, clients, volunteers and key personnel from all sections of the organisation and community.
  • A Demonstrated ability to communicate well in written form, an ability to research, analyse & report data and from this develop project funding applications.
  • A Demonstrated medium level computer knowledge using MS Office and data base entry / manipulation ability.
  • Understanding of or an ability to quickly acquire a sound knowledge of a community based project and working with the various stakeholders involved - community, agencies, clients, funding bodies, government representatives etc.
  • Demonstrated team and office management including; Team leading & supervision, clerical skills, developing administrative procedures and office systems requiring a high degree of judgment, initiative, confidentiality and sensitivity in the performance of work.
  • Demonstrated application of strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience of daily management of operational resources.

First Aid Trainer and Sales Consultant - Mackay Office and various training locations

 St John Ambulance (Qld) is currently seeking an energetic, full-time First Aid Trainer / Sales to join its busy team based in Mackay.

 The position is responsible for assisting in the implementation and delivery of prescribed training courses. Other duties include assisting in the sales and service of first aid product.

 Key Duties

  • Deliver and assess all training programs within the St John (Qld) scope of registration, as required.
  • Participate in peer review and the trainer appraisal system as well as attend trainer workshops, meetings and other opportunities for professional development.
  • Assist St John (Qld) to build and maintain relationships with major clients.
  • Promote St John training courses, products and volunteer services to customers / clients.
  • Assist and convert potential customers with enquiries relating to scheduling, costs, enrolment in first aid courses, and the purchase of first aid kits and other products.
  • Audits of first aid kits.

 Key Competencies:

  • Possession of a Certificate IV in Training Assessment and Education (TAE) or equivalent qualification, plus relevant discipline qualification(s) and equivalent industry training experience.
  • Acquire and maintain relevant vocational competencies and qualifications to be able to deliver and assess all competencies on the St John Ambulance scope of registration, as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to utilise information technology resources to support the objectives of this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision, schedule, allocate priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated understanding of first aid products.
  • Demonstrated sales experience.
  • Possess and maintain a motor vehicle driving licence (Queensland).

Trainer registration is valid for twelve (12) months, which must be re-applied for annually and is subject to fulfilment of specified criteria.

The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering training programs within the St John (Qld) scope of registration.

• Participate in peer review and the trainer appraisal system as well as attend trainer workshops, meetings and other opportunities for professional development.
• Assist St John (Qld) to build and maintain relationships with major clients.
